Many thanks to all of the wonderful people that helped pull off an amazing event this year! We would like to thank our many volunteers that helped with every aspect of a big event such as this. Our sponsors really gave us the financial backing that we needed. Lastly, all of our fabulous supporters that donated to our auctions and Fund-a-Need helped raised over $65,000 for Russian Riverkeeper programs!
The River Awards honored and highlighted the people, businesses and farms that are leading the Russian River to a more climate resilient future. It also helped educate our community on the actions the awardees are taking to increase our resiliency to climate impacts such as our current drought and recent floods. The Gala featured a sumptuous organic farm-to-table dinner by A La Heart Catering (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free friendly options were available) and our generous local farms, DaVero and Bernier Farms provided produce! We were entertained with excellent live music by local jazz band Obstinate Ostinato. We enjoyed our local world-class beer from Russian River Brewing Company and Lagunitas Brewing Company. We tasted local organic and biodynamic wines from Preston, DaVero, Truett Hurst, Hawley, and more. There was an incredible live auction by Senator Mike McGuire, and a silent auction filled with local whiskeys, gift certificates, exclusive experiences, romantic getaways, and more! So many people came and enjoyed a great time with friends from across the watershed. It was such an incredible evening, celebrating our local watershed heroes and raising money to support all our programs on the river, including education programs with local in-need youth and schools, advocacy campaigns to protect the Russian River’s rights, clean-ups, and much, much more!
