The 40th Annual Russian River Watershed Cleanup

Be part of one of the biggest environmental volunteer events in Sonoma County! Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together to protect our beloved Russian River before the winter rains carry litter to the ocean.

We’ll meet at Olive Park (106 Orange Street, Santa Rosa). From there, volunteers can choose from a variety of walking routes based on where trash is most concentrated.

What’s Provided: Gloves, trash grabbers, bags, free daily parking pass (available at check-in — just display it on your dashboard), a thank-you gift for your time and impact!

Why it matters: We know that 80% of ocean trash starts on land. Your cleanup helps protect wildlife and stop pollution before it flows downstream during the winter months. We can’t wait to get out on the river with you!

Sign up today and help make an impact together!

What to Expect

We recommend wearing sturdy shoes, long sleeves and a hat if sunny. Please bring a water bottle and any other personal items you might need for a 2 hour cleanup.

  • From the check-in location, volunteers will be able to choose various walking routes along the creek based on where the trash is.
  • All supplies provided—gloves, trash grabbers, and bags. Just bring your enthusiasm!
  • Weather permitting—check for email updates if conditions are uncertain.

Why it Matters

Every cleanup helps prevent trash from polluting the Russian River and flowing to the ocean. By volunteering, you’re making a real difference in keeping our local environment beautiful and thriving.

Bonus: Meet like-minded community members, enjoy the fresh air, and make a lasting impact on our river!
