Since 1982, the Michael family and a history of acclaimed winemakers
and viticulturists have realized Sir Peter Michael’s vision to produce limited production, estate wines of exceptional quality reflective of the unique Knight’s Valley hillside terroir and traditional winemaking. Robert Fiore became winemaker in 2024 having worked under Nicolas Morlet since 2020. Nicolas followed in the footsteps of his brother, Luc, both of whom represent the fifth generation of a French winemaking family. Winemakers preceding them include the great Helen Turley and Mark Aubert.
You and five guests will enjoy a taste of “Unobtainium” — A privately hosted Peter Michael Winery Tour & Tasting including an excursion through their 750- acre Knights Valley estate vineyards and up the slopes of Mount St. Helena to a 2,000-foot vista point offering incredible views of their estate and Sonoma’s Knights Valley.
The winner will also receive a rare 1.5 liter of Peter Michael Winery’s acclaimed Estate 2006 ‘Les Pavots’ made by Helen Turley and rated 96 points by Robert Parker. Experience an exquisite Gourmet, Multi-Course Dinner prepared by Michelin 1-Star Chef Jean-Pierre Moullé, the storied, long-time Executive Chef of Chez Panisse. Chef Moullé will craft a classic Bordelais dinner expressing his and his wife’s (Denise Lurton-Moullé) roots in Bordeaux.
Each course will be paired with perfectly matured Bordeaux from the Verlander cellar from exceptional vintages. The first course will be accompanied by the 2012 Chateau La Louviere, a stunning property that was restored at the beginning of this century by Denise’s father, Andre Lurton. The following courses will be served with two of the five First Growths from the greatest vintage of the last 30+ years: 1989 Chateau Margaux and 1989 Chateau Mouton Rothschild. But it will not end there! Michael promises to pull from his cellar for your hedonistic pleasure the perfect 100-point Super-Second Growth 1989 Chateau Montrose and the exceptional, silky 1990 La Consiellante, the jewel of the Pomerol that is considered a First Growth of the Right Bank. Of course, no holds will be barred. You will finish this stunning experience with the classic 1985 Chateau d’Yquem, considered the greatest dessert wine in the world. The general manager of this storied property is none other than Denise’s cousin, Pierre Lurton, who also manages Chateau Cheval Blanc!
Janet and Michael Verlander, founders of DuMOL Winery, will host the dinner at their beautiful Dry Creek Valley home. Each guest will also receive a personalized copy of Denise’s and Jean-Pierre’s highly acclaimed cookbook, French Roots. DuMOL was co-founded in 1996 by RRK Board Member Michael Verlander and his wife Janet on the belief that the cool climate and Goldridge soils of Green Valley, which nestles within both the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations, can grow some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the world. Despite the Verlanders selling their interests in 2015, the business has continued to thrive. Over the past three decades DuMOL has acquired and planted nearly 100 sustainably-farmed acres of heritage vines while expanding and solidifying their dedication to their foundational vision.
DuMOL wines have been served numerous times at important White House occasions and have continually received critical acclaim from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, Antonio Galloni’s Vinous, and The Wine Spectator. In January Antonio Galloni named the DuMOL MacIntyre Estate Vineyard 2021 Pinot Noir the “Vinous Wine of the Year” – An impressive recognition as it stood out as his favorite wine among over 40,000 wines tasted during 2023!
Jeroboams (3L bottles) are produced in extremely limited quantities, often fewer than 12 per year. They are available exclusively to DuMOL members. This is your chance to obtain one of these rarities as each participating couple will receive one Jeroboam of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir from Michael’s personal collection. After making your choice, the bottle will be signed by DuMOL Winegrower and Proprietor, Andy Smith, during a private tasting and tour at their Windsor winery, scheduled at a mutually convenient time by RRK Development Director Jana Lawyer.
